75 years later, we can proudly claim ourselves as a free, independent, democratic country. Our history is what gives us a purpose, it’s what gives us a story behind us, our country. India’s history and fight for freedom are one for the books. India was always under someone’s rule until - 15th August 1947. India had decided that they won’t and don’t need to take orders from anyone. Although the movement spanned from 1857 the actual colonialism started back in 1498. A large scale rebellion took place in 1857 against the British East India Company. The Indian self-rule movement was a broad-based movement that included people from many walks of life. It also went through a continuous ideological change.
The campaign's anti-colonial philosophy was backed up by a vision of autonomous capitalist economic development combined with a secular, democratic, republican, and civil-libertarian political structure. After the 1930s, the movement became increasingly socialist. The efforts of these numerous movements culminated in the Indian Independence Act of 1947, which ended suzerainty in India and resulted in the establishment of Pakistan.

The convention formed a drafting committee, led by Motilal Nehru, to design an Indian constitution. The Indian National Congress's Kolkata session demanded that the British government provide India dominion status by December 1929, or a nationwide civil disobedience movement will be launched. In the face of mounting political unrest and increasingly violent regional uprisings, the demand for complete sovereignty and an end to British rule began to gain traction. This was a very brief summary of India's history because our countries history goes deeper than just this and we as Indians should be proud of that
