The Basics of your College Application

College is an essential part of one’s life. It determines the field of work one goes into, thereby making it vital to have the right information and guidance.


What is your college application?

We all are aware that in order to get into a good college, your application must be outstanding. The acceptance into the college and possible scholarships all dependent on this. Your application will convey how you have excelled in colleges. Therefore, each of the below-mentioned points must show an exemplary version of you :

1.Your basic information

2. Information on your extracurricular activities

3. Your high school transcript

4. Recommendation letters (if required)

5. Test scores (such as AP, ACT, SAT)

6.Entrance Essay

7. Portfolio(mainly for art or performing arts)

8. An application fee.


Where should you apply?

The most important yet subjective factors to consider when deciding among the various colleges around the world is-

1. Your budget

2.Your major

3. Personal needs(preferred culture, social environment, safety).


When should you apply?


College applications are due on different dates for different colleges. Be sure to check out when to apply for the college of your choice and be careful not to miss the deadline. For example, US colleges open regular decision around November.


Who is involved?

A college application takes time and lots of effort. Besides your parents being the most important who will guide you throughout the application, the school career counsellor and your teachers are the people who are also involved in the process. And finally most important of all - YOU. You have to give it your best in all your examinations and college essays to make your application stand out.


The process of applying to colleges is tough and tedious but worth it in the end. Don’t wait around! Get started right away by participating in extra-curricular activities and acing your examinations! Good write .. and will be very helpful for juniors .. do write more on when juniors should start building their credentials .. ( ECA .. SAT .. essay .. network for recommendation letter etc.. ) ...
