Cyclone Nisarga is the worst cyclone to hit Maharashtra in almost 30 years. It's barely been a week since it started to develop over the Arabian Sea, and yet it threatens to lay waste to the crown jewel in India's economic hub, Mumbai.
On May 31st, a low pressure area developed in the Eastern Arabian Sea which quickly turned into a Category 1 tropical cyclone. By noon on June 2nd, it had created a large meteorological depression, giving it it's name 'Nisarga' meaning Natural in Marathi. Trees and poles have been uprooted as the incessant rain refuses to stop.

1 lakh people have already been evacuated and Home Minister Amit Shah has met with top disaster relief officials to help remedy the situation. 2020 continues to be a sad year and the combination of this cyclone with the virus will surely not be remembered positively.
Cyclone Amphan in Bengal and Odisha started to erode on 18th May and some resemblance of normalcy has begun to creep back (climate-wise atleast). The various ministries of both central and state government were crucial in aiding the situation and have handled it in a extremely mature way. It would've been easy to make a big deal out of it and use this as yet another political pawn, but the actual relief efforts have been the focus.
