August has been a long month with the TGP team hosting Millennium alongside two issues. And then, of course, the UTs did not make anyone’s job easier. This article has its reasons for being late, one of which being- we just couldn’t decide. From counselling to Out of Ten, the writers outdid themselves this time.
All the articles this month were at par with each other and after multiple debates and discussions here are the top 6, yes 6, articles of August-
6. Testing Times- The most adored and cried over article of the month, written by Minal Shaik. It was a blockbuster, winning everyone’s hearts. The article is gutsy, controversial and yet in a palatable form. A juicy, but a classy one. We’re sure most of you have read this, if not then you’re in for a treat. It dictates the sob story of the month, the dreaded past- our unit tests.
5. Indian Matchmaking- Written by Christina Paul, It does justice to a show most of us fail to put into words. It is a spicy article that Indian matchmaking fans will find themselves nodding along to. Much to Sima aunties disappointment Christina does not adjust, be flexible and compromise with the review, it is all you want and more. The subtle hints from the show and the lines that make you reflect, this out of ten pick left the editors thoroughly impressed.
4.The Malice at the Palace- Written by Sriram Chidambaram just had to make the list. The editors have acknowledged that the sports column is highly underrated and it is our pleasure to present one of them in editors' picks of August. Malice at the Palace goes beyond just sports and subtly reflects upon people and society. It is true sports journalism and it intrigues the reader like no other sports column ever has.
3.The Beauty in the Chaos- By Arohi Sachar, is another phenomenal article in August. She is back with her storytime articles that display the concept without you realising it’s being explained. Drawing examples from renaissance and daily life, she gives ample opportunities for the reader to draw connections and parallels. There is beauty in the chaos, and Arohi takes you through the journey to show you the why.
2. Racism through the lens of Cinema(Part 2)- Written by Arnav Sampigethaya and Eesha Gorti is the second part to Racism through the lens of Pop Culture(Part 1). This article was much awaited and did not let down. It has handpicked some popular, some underrated movies which displayed black society and their struggles. It is a testament to their knowledge of the cinematic universe and a viewpoint we must all educate ourselves on. Zootopia. They connected zootopia.
1. A small step towards a Paradigm shift- Written by Anubhav Mishra and Sam Verma. Fun fact, this article was put together overnight. Both of them had written on the same topic- NEP- and both were fantastic articles. So we asked them to collaborate and this masterpiece was the result of it. The National Education Policy demanded everyone- students, teachers, parents, schools to educate themselves on it and this article will help you do that. From it’s formatting to clarity everything is top-notch and it will not disappoint. It is a bold article calling out what shortfalls exist in the policy while congratulating on progressive ideas.
That is a wrap for August. One of the busiest months for both the writers and the editors of TGP, they still managed to write absolutely amazing articles determined to leave you spellbound. Stay tuned for September and October, there’s a lot we have in store for you.
